We're Making Progress!

We received our second DIA notice from Vietnam today. They have officially determined that he is an orphan and eligible for adoption. The province can know schedule our giving and receiving ceremony--the official appointment where Wyatt legally becomes our son!

Of course, in order to travel, we need the US to give pre-approval for his visa. Our agency would have actually preferred for that to happen before we got the second DIA, as now they may need to ask Vietnam for an extension before the G&R ceremony. We would love to travel ASAP and hope that we are not held up too long by what is often an unpredictable process by the US CIS.

One step forward...

Our I600 paperwork was submitted on June 19. Now the US government will determine if Wyatt meets their definition of an orphan--which he must, in order to be eligible for a US VISA. The average time required to process this is 45 days. We need not only this approval, but also a second DIA approval from the Vietnamese government before we can travel.

We also got numerous pictures this week. Many from the adoption agency staff, and a couple others from a family who recently travelled to Ben Tre to meet their child. Can't wait until that is us!
